The Blue Hour
It was twilight.
He sat alone by the campfire.
Unsure as to the stability of their recently renewed relationship, she approached him cautiously. “What are you doing?”
He looked up. “Thought I might read a chapter before calling it a night.” He hesitated. “Sit with me?”
“A Deathly Calm,” he read, “by Steven S. Slattery. Chapter One. She was five foot six with flaming red hair. Her legs started at the floor and went all the way up to heaven. I couldn’t get the dame out of my head.”
And so they began.
