“Didn’t expect to find you playing in the sand.”
With a smile, she patted his shoulder and sat down beside him.
“It’s not sand. It’s alluvial deposits. This used to be the river mouth.”
“And you just had to take off your shoes and play in the alluvial deposits. How romantic.”
He stole a look at her cleavage.
“That’s a nice color on you.”
“It’s good to see you, Laura.”
“You, too, Bill.”
Her hand brushed his arm softly.
Their eyes met. With tentative smiles at each other, they both looked away.
He seemed a bit shy and reserved—definitely not the same man she said goodbye to when she left Galactica to settle on New Caprica. There was something different about him. Maybe it had something to do with his upper lip.
